Coloured matcha - frequently asked questions

Everything about Matcha Colors coloured matcha: what it is, where the colour comes from, and how to prepare it.

What is coloured matcha?

Coloured matcha is a range of matcha and superfood blends coloured only by real food - flower, root, fruit and leaf. No artificial colours, no added sugar, and vegan.

Is the colour really natural?

Yes. Every colour comes from a real food: beetroot and pitaya (pink), butterfly pea flower and spirulina (blue), turmeric and kabocha (yellow), purple sweet potato (violet), cacao and activated charcoal (black). Never artificial dyes.

What is Blue Matcha?

A blend of butterfly pea flower and spirulina that gives an intense, 100% natural blue. We also sell pure Butterfly Pea and pure Blue Spirulina.

What is Pink Matcha?

Matcha coloured pink with beetroot and pitaya (dragon fruit). There is also pure Pink Pitaya, a more intense magenta.

What is Japanese Ube?

Stone-milled Japanese purple sweet potato: a naturally violet, gently sweet powder with notes of vanilla. One single ingredient.

Does it contain sugar?

No. None of our blends contain added sugar.

Is it vegan and nut-free?

Yes, all our products are 100% vegan and nut-free.

Does it contain caffeine?

Blends with matcha or green tea contain caffeine (roughly 30-70 mg per cup depending on the variety). Our rooibos and flower blends are caffeine-free.

How do you prepare it?

Sift 1-2 g, add a little hot water (around 80 C), whisk with a chasen or frother until smooth, then pour in milk or water. The colour blooms as it mixes.

Where does the matcha come from?

Our ceremonial matcha is sourced directly in Japan.

What makes Matcha Colors different?

We are the original home of coloured matcha: a living palette coloured only by real food, with no artificial colours, no added sugar, and vegan.
